This year’s global forced social and economic restrictions have had unexpected “beneficial” (if you don’t mind the pain) effects. As we were forced to stop the ‘rat race’ (towards nothingness) abruptly, forcing us to face what was habitually emotionally, repressed, or controlled.
Having experienced being confined with ourselves, we were exposed to what seemed a virtual mega torchlight pointing straight into our subconscious level revealing a ray of unresolved personal issues while highlighting the limitations of a social system that is unsustainable and inhuman at all levels.
As this new reality kicks in (I pinch myself from time to time to make sure I am not making this up), I feel like mother-life has put the brakes on our planetary misbehavior putting us all on a time-out.
The truth is, the way we have managed humanity, how we treat each other, animals, nature, food, medicine, science, and ‘everything on the list’ has been in absolute contradiction to life.
Yet, the denial around our responsibilities is enormous. This is a difficult time because, in some ways, we are still resisting knowing the underlying truth; we have based our life on a false sense of knowing, ‘sleeping,’ and trusting the untrustworthy.
What now? Will humanity choose to look inside and see if life is the wondrous adventure that we are meant to experience or is it an automatic sequence of survival mechanisms?
With the practical aspects of a new society suffering from the many restrictions that the Covid-19 has imposed, there is a new level of nervousness and uneasiness that affects not only our current economic and social system but is also creating a backfall of problems that will surface as our children grow in this world of false certainty and manipulated danger.
The next generation is being shaped by limited and controlled interactions, suffering suppressed spontaneity, topped by the unsettling parental overwhelm.
Our children will present us with innumerable unexpected difficulties caused by the damage that this new reality is causing them socially, emotionally, and mentally. Our society is developing into something we are not prepared nor equipped to resolve and will put a heavy toll on our future at large.
The opportunity to be present to ourselves, in a way that was not possible before, has shown up for us to see the gap between what we want to be and what we do.
How do you spend your days? How much attention do you give to your true needs? Will you keep your head up and look around to seek the truth? Will you wonder what is really happening to you? To us? What is happening to your neighbors? To the minority population next door? Why has it become so hard to feel compassion and to stand for human rights? Why are we so easily manipulated? Asleep? Exhausted?
You are in great company if you wake up in the morning with a frowning forehead and a vague sense of discomfort, having a free flow expression of negative thoughts making you feel confused.
We have been taught to suppress and repress pain, (or better yet, addicted to painkillers) rather than facing the pain in order to heal it.
We can cry out and complain, feel devastated, or choose to have gratitude for awakening to the fact that we can make a difference.
Our inner door is wide open and it is very uncomfortable because we have been trained to not feel too much and to not go too deep.
Full changing periods like the one we are experiencing on a global level, are perfect to test our ability to stay centered and evolve.
We can choose to use our time to be present to the expansive energy that is being poured into us.
Meditating is a great way to witness yourself and hold space for what feels bizarre in the world today. It helps to let go of attachments towards the old ways and accept the new.
Choose to put energy and courage into what feels meaningful to you, including coming out of the state of denial and engage in the challenging idea of being proactive with a lifestyle that supports nature, equality, and justice.
Compassion and appreciation are necessary and difficult to maintain when our path is all curves and hills.
I start my daily meditation with the intention of immersing myself in self-love and feel compassion for every stage of the evolution I am in.
In doing so, I know I am a drop in the ocean of love that will take the planet into the next updated frequency.
In Love,
Donatella.
